The Catherine Wheel is an impressive example of "provincial baroque" architecture. The facade and front rooms were built in 1680 as an addition to a much older house. By 1740 it was a coaching inn changing its name to the Catherine Wheel about 40 years later. Simple, sympathetic décor complements the exposed stonewalls and large open fireplaces. Inside it feels like a traditional Cotswold pub. Good ale, good food and a warm and welcoming interior. Large cosy bar area with rooms off and a courtyard-style garden with a covered area.
