Campaign for Real Ale

About Us

Our Branch was founded by a couple of real ale enthusiasts in July, 1980, some of whom are still active members to this day. Only 14 months later, on the 16th September, 1981, the North West Wiltshire branch of CAMRA was born and we became a Branch in our own right.

North West Wilts CAMRA covers an area stretching from Crudwell in the north to Seend in the south, and from Kingsdown in the west to Minety to the east. We have some 136 establishments that sell real ale in our Branch area. From rural country inns to town centre pubs, we have them all.

In 1992, we held our first beer festival, in the Neeld Hall Chippenham, and, 28 years later, those organisers are still the driving force behind this highly popular and successful event.

We are an eclectic mix of women and men of all ages who enjoy real ale or cider, support real ale pubs, and have varied social events. We have a strong group of ‘active’ members who regularly turn up at our Branch meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of the month which are held throughout our area.

There are also a number of socials, brewery trips, and other events held throughout the year. See the Branch Diary for more information.
