2015 Branch Pub of the year

We are pleased to announce that the 2015 year North West Wilts CAMRA
Pub of The Year is

The Bell, Lacock.

The Bell at Lacock  gained the most votes from members when voting or
branch pubs to be included in the Good Beer Guide.
However were did this make the Bell good enough to be our PoTY?

Committee members visit each one of the top 6 pubs and carry out a detailed
survey which includes quality of beer, focus on CAMRA issues, Community focus,
value for money, atmosphere/style/décor, service & welcome.

Although quality of ale is very important, being N.W.Wilts PoTY is about more
than just the ale. It’s about the pub; it’s about how people feel about its
atmosphere, what welcome they receive, and also whether having spent their
hard earned cash they have enjoyed the whole experience of their visit.

The committee decided the Bell was a worth winner of our Pub of The Year
for 2015. in fact its the 10th time in 15 years that the Bell has been our PoTY
they have been in the Good Beer Guide since 2001.

See the Pub of The Year tab on the menu bar on the left for more info.

The Good Beer Guide - VOTE HERE

Is a totally independent guide compiled from data received from members of CAMRA.

Because space in the guide is limited each CAMRA branch is given an allocation. We in North West Wiltshire are able to vote for 12 of the pubs in our postcode area plus 1 from Gloucestershire that falls within our geographical boundary. We have 130 pubs in our area so choosing 13 is not an easy task. By no means do all those pubs consistently sell beer at what we'd regard as GBG standard but we could easily fill a bigger allocation - as would most other branches.

Each branch decides how they select their entries. In our Branch, all members are invited to nominate possible entries by early January. The top 12 pubs and one from Gloucestershire are then survey by active members to ensure they comply with national guidelines.  It’s important to follow these national guidelines for GBG voting not only does this make it fair on the landlords, Landladies and Managers but also helps when we chose our Pub of The Year, which by branch definition must be one of the 12 voted for the GBG.

Obviously pubs voted for must sell good quality ale but this doesn't mean they have to have 12 hand pumps, a pub selling a single consistently good ale should be considered.

Obviously the more members voting for a pubs to be considered for the Good Beer Guide the better so please encourage your fellow CAMRA members to vote. Our branch Pub of The Year is selected from the top 12 pubs you vote for so your vote is doubly important and only takes a few moments.

You can find a list of the branch pubs below along with  the online voting link.

Please, please, please ensure you have put your membership number on the form as your vote will not be counted without it.
