Save our Pubs

With lockdown due to end on 2 December, pubs in (branch area) will be looking to make the most of reopening. We need to make sure that the Government understands how much our pubs, clubs, breweries and cider makers mean to us before the lockdown ends. Our locals are so important to the wellbeing of our communities, especially for people who live alone, and we need to make sure that they have the government support they need.

The ‘Save Our Pubs’ campaign is one of the most important issues that (Branch name) has ever campaigned in. Businesses like (please list some local venues and/ or producers – particularly any that have been given ‘Lockdown Hero’ awards, those in the Good Beer Guide, etc.) could be facing extinction if the Government doesn’t act now to make sure they are supported when this lockdown ends.

You can take part by emailing your MP through the CAMRA website at camra.org.uk/saveourpubs and asking them to call for the comprehensive financial support that pubs, clubs, breweries and cider makers in (branch area) need.

If we can keep making our voices heard, we can persuade the Government to take action and Save Our Pubs.

Supporting pubs through the recovery period

Pubs and clubs in NW Wiltshire have made it through the lock-down, but 42% of pub-goers say they are visiting the pub less frequently than formerly

So many pubs and clubs have supported their communities through lock-down, by running shops for essentials, delivering meals to vulnerable members of the community, moving the pub online to help fight loneliness and social isolation, or simply by making sure that their regulars can still pick up fresh ale and cider

Now they need our support more than ever

If you can go back to the pub please do so. Remember that if your local is under threat as a result of the CoVID-19 crisis, CAMRA has a number of resources to help you save it. You can find them here

If you’re not ready to go back to the pub, you can find takeaway and delivery services on WhatPub. This will help support pubs that aren’t open yet, so please think about using them here

2021 Festival

The Olympiad has been booked for next year, for the period, Friday, 23rd - Saturday, 24th April, 2021.
Put the event in your diary now!

Our Branch was founded by a couple of real ale enthusiasts in July, 1980, some of whom are still active members to this day. Just 14 months later, on the 16th September, 1981, the North West Wiltshire branch of CAMRA was born and we became a Branch in our own right.

North West Wilts CAMRA covers an area stretching from Crudwell in the north to Seend in the south, and from Kingsdown in the west to Minety to the east. We have some 136 establishments that sell real ale in our Branch area. From rural country inns to town centre pubs, we have them all.

In 1992, we held our first beer festival, in the Neeld Hall Chippenham, and, 28 years later, those organisers are still the driving force behind this highly popular and successful event.

We are an eclectic mix of men and women of all ages who enjoy real ale or cider, support real ale pubs, and have varied social events. We have a strong group of ‘active’ members who regularly turn up at our Branch meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of the month which are held throughout our area.

There are also a number of socials, brewery trips, and other events held throughout the year.

Why not consider joining us? See the How to Join link for more information.
